Art Fun

Today we finally got to play with our chalk pastels.  The kids had a blast!

These were the samples I created the other night, and while I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, even I can follow the well written lessons!

K (age 10) enjoyed making the picture of the barn at twilight and her own cupcake!

T (age 8) enjoyed making the sailboat at sunset and a mug of hot chocolate.

D (age 6!) made a castle that he remembered from a summer pastel lesson we did, his own little scene, and then he tried a mug.

Eric let me know they were talking about their drawings in the evening while I was at work.  (That is considered school day success!)

We found that our "Artist Loft" brand chalk pastels are NOT nearly as easy to use as the pricier name brand (sadly).  So after work I went to Michael's with my coupon and splurged on the BIG 72 piece set!

I can't wait to use them with the kids.  I think we'll consider January and February a month of chalk pastel fun!

Are they not SO FUN???? We just did our very own last week of buttercups. One of our kids favorite things to do. :) {and maybe mine too!}
